FEES competency training

NDoscopy Dysphagia Specialists are now offering Flexible endoscopic evaluation of swallowing FEES training and mentoring for medical facilities in New York and New Jersey.  Flexible endoscopic evaluation of swallowing is a procedure where a small scope is inserted into the nares to view the pharynx and larynx during swallowing.   FEES trainings are offered to skilled nursing facilities, hospitals, rehabilitation, and long term facilities to help SLPs feel confident in their scoping abilities.

We travel to your facility to provide on-site FEES mentorship and competency training for medical facilities in New York and New Jersey for qualified Speech-Language Pathologists.  FEES training and mentorship includes chart review, equipment set-up, direct passes with actual patients, disinfection of the scope, FEES analysis and report writing.  Competency will include a comprehensive concensus-based verification tool.

It is important to be trained from a qualified and experienced FEES provider to obtain competency.   Competency cannot be accomplished with a weekend course.  NDoscopy Dysphagia Specialists have completed over a thousand FEES exams and have completed extensive, advanced training in FEES.  NDoscopy Dysphagia Specialists are knowledgeable, professional and approachable.  We provide a fun and safe learning environment.  After trainings, we are here to help continue your growth!

There are no definitive number of scopes performed that every clinician will be competent following training.  We tailor the program to each individual/facility to suit their needs, with a minimum of 15 passes.  There is not a specific number of scopes recommended by ASHA or NY, although some states or facilities do require a specific number.

Currently, NDoscopy Dysphagia Specialists do not allow non-employees at our contracted facilities.  We can provide referrals for you.
